Prohibitory orders on Thursday remained in force in the entire Kashmir Valley even as normal life was hit in the wake of a two-day strike call given by the separatists.
Police said prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC restricting assembly of people will remain clamped in the city and elsewhere in the Valley as a precautionary measure.
The strike has been called by hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference headed by jailed leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani to protest against presence of security forces.
Life in the city and elsewhere in the Valley continued to remain affected as shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed and public transport was off the roads.
In Rambagh on Srinagar-airport road, women came out on the road and pelted stones on some government vehicles.Police and paramilitary forces deployed in the area chased them away but they regrouped and shouted slogans.
Residents of areas falling under police stations of Safakadal, Khanyar, Maharajgunj and Nowhatta set ablaze some tyres on the roads to prevent movement of private vehicles.
There were reports of some minor incidents from Rajourikadal, Kalashpora, Nawabbazar, Habbakadal, Syed Ali Akbar and Karfali mohalla.

Why do you not have your ears on the ground? The fact is that hoodlums appeared in most localities around 9 AM when, like the previous day, shops and establishments were starting to open and threatened and forced people to shut shop. Many businesses received threat letters that had been slipped under their shutters at night.

It is true that Life gets affected from Hartal and other Protests, However at the same time it's more that a big fact that We all want to protest against cruel Indain Administration. Simply speaking we can easily devote our lives for our Precious Freedom.. We love Our COUNTRY (i.e JAMMU & KASHMIR) which was never part of India but India is forcefully rulling here. It's really hight time for India to realise that Fact that India should now Leave dreanm of Kashmir. We can make make our country 100 times better India. we request India to Leave us alone, otherwise be ready to face consequences...
