RED may be the typical example of star power adding many wattage of energy to your otherwise typical action thriller. And it is amazing how all the experienced actors, Bruce Willils, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich manage to keep us quite occupied in a movie that revolves around guns, cars, chases and more guns.

Bruce Willis plays the role of retired CIA agent Frank Moses who leads a quiet settled life. His only distraction is Sarah, a government employee who keeps replenishing his pension cheques as he keeps tearing them just in order to have a flairtatious conversation with her every day.

But Moses' life is certainly not as settled as it seems, as the CIA is keeping a close watch on him and needs to get him out of his way. But before they can get their hands on him, he kicks their ass and runs to rescue Sarah, who he knows will be the CIA's next victim.

And to get on top of what the intelligence agency wants, he gets back to his pack of ex-colleagues who are going to help him in his mission.

John Malkovich and his wierd and absurd character is one of the most endearing parts of the film. It is amusing to see how he is always right and never taken seriously or how he loves to shoot people.

The action in the movie looks as effortless and smooth as the part when Mirren is rescued by Brian Cox when she is shot. The beauty of RED which is an acronym of retired, extremely dangerous by the way is its ability to do something that we have seen before with no real novelty but great elan.

Bruce Willis has done roles like these umpteen times but he still looks a million dollars in his character in every new film. The movie has a sound sense of humour that is sometimes pure and sometimes sarcastic. Either ways, we love it.
