After a string of flop comedies mainly with Akshay Kumar, Anees Bazmee can breathe a sigh of relief. Sallu's Midas touch will help the filmmaker salvage a part of his lost glory as ready is heady and a whole lot of fun.
Now there are three things that work for ready. Salman Khan, Salman Khan and Salman Khan. If there is one actor who actually epitomizes star value, it is Salman Khan. His presence can spike up the most boring films, add pizzazz to the most mundane scenes and make us laugh at the most ghisa pita jokes. Really that is the value Salman Khan can add to a movie.
Now if you are looking for a storyline and plot in ready, you are making the wrong expectations. Ready is a situational comedy that is to be enjoyed for its gags, its idiosyncratic characters, its light mood, and of course some great music. Whether it is the junior Arun Chaudhary getting bombarded by expletives from his mother, Mahesh Manjrekar forgetting the most important word in every sentence or lahiri and his lascivious jokes all add to the fun quotient of ready.
This truly is the right way of approaching comedy, an almost nonexistent storyline that keeps you in splits for three hours. The most disappointing part of the film is Asin. I can easily say that she can hardly act and a terrible make up job only adds to her woes in Bollywood. I also wonder why Zarine Khan showed up like such a star at all promotions considering she was there in the film for less than ten minutes. Anyways, if you are up to having some fun, go catch this no brainer entertainer.
