Now titles can be deceptive. From Love With Paris may at first sound like a sophisticated or may be even candy floss romance but it isn't. Infact it is an action thriller directed by Pierre Morel and stars John Travolta and Jonathan Rhy Myers. What you can expect from this film, well the feeling that you're watching a bollywood rip off and some seen there and got bored of it action.

From Paris with Love revolves around a suicide attack planned around a US delegation visiting Paris. While Myers is already stationed under cover in Paris, he is joined by Travolta and the two unravel a big terror attack plot.

The trouble with From Paris with love is manifold. Firstly, the action which is supposedly at the center of the film is very drab and boring. Everytime Travolta goes out there with his guns killing a man every second sometimes two in a second with guns in both his hands, you wonder why is our man behaving like such a wannabe actor. Now this is a man who has proven his versatility earlier whether in Swordfish, Faceoff or ofcourse Grease. His character's need to look and be cool doesn't seem natural in the least. And even though, he is Mr I know it all even before it happens so much so that I never miss my shot and it all seems like a game of chess I have laid out, Travolta doesn't happen for us for most part of the film. Secondly if the intent was to add a dash of suspense to the film, then it is certainly not revealed too well. Travolta seems to know everything, making all the action seem so matter of fact like.

The end of the movie is such a whimper. You're like, Oh My God, was it this that they were trying to get to. Where was the need for all the cocaine and all the drama. For the first time, I feel that the director has watched too many Indian films like Dil Se which is why he thought of making the film the way he did. Even the action seems such a rip off. The movie has the typical scene where the hero comes out of nowhere with guns in both his hands shooting men on both sides, not being hit even once and killing them all. Finally, cinema seems to have come a full circle and we are returning to Hollywood what we took from it. The only fun part of the film is the last car chase scene where a sexy Audi is shown chasing a green Volvo.

Overall, not a movie we want to see Travolta doing and not a movie you really wanna watch unless it is turning out to be one helluva boring day for you.
