It is amazing how intelligent direction can turn something senseless into something endearing and enjoyable. And while many such situations would be termed grotesquely hyperbolic in most of Rajnikant’s films, we let them pass as fanciful in a film like Knight and Day.
So we do wonder how Diaz steers the car with so much precision from the back seat. And we question Cruise’s opportune jump into the car, yet despite all this so called larger than life implausible action, we enjoy Knight and Day.
Tom Cruise plays Roy Miller, a secret agent who is trying to protect an energy gizmo and its creator. He runs into June ( Cameron Diaz) at an airport. And somehow, she ends up getting wound up in a journey of guns, bombs, some slick cars and bikes and a whole of breathless action.
Though Knight and Day provides for some very confusing and peeving moments, the end will somewhere justify all the means in its case. Now, as mentioned earlier, Knight and Day is no sensible flick with a taut, crisp and well thought out narrative device, but it is certainly a fun film that will provide you with plenty of jolts and adrenaline thumps. Also, chances that you will not be able to justify the title of the film even till the end are high. But, that wont stop you from enjoying moments of action especially ones that include Cruise’s flattering manoeuvres. And even though you might keep telling yourself that this is stuff you’ve seen before, you will also sit on the edge of your seat.
Both the stars share good chemistry. However, the film belongs more to Tom Cruise than Diaz. The actress she had gone on record to say that she took on the film to battle the depression she was suffering from after losing her father Emelio to pneumonia. So Diaz looks svelte but certainly a little worn out. Cruise on other hand looks as dashing as ever.

KNIGHT AND DAY: Not so great, but solid fun! Tom Cruise was no less thn the superman!!! Imagine a less serious Ethan Hunt from 'MI' with just the right shot of effective comedy and you'll have yourself KNIGHT AND DAY... It's much like Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold's flick... True lies...
