The title was ofcourse first heard as a song in DevD and is now a voyeuristic series on Indian television. The film has been directed by Akshay Shere and has been touted all this while as a road thriller and a dark comedy. First things first. Both the genres chosen by the filmmakers are challenging and very specialized. It isn't everyone's cup of tea to pull off either a road movie or a comic film with dark undertones. To add to it, the director put in an ensemble cast.
Plot: Emotional Atyachar revolves around characters that include a businessman, a wannabe don, cops, a Casanova and a crafty young girl who has willingly got herself kidnapped. All the characters are shown to be completely mercenary in nature and will do whatever it takes to make money.
Positives: It is very interesting to see the director's ability to use so many genres, themes and characters all at once. His brave and innovative attempt surely needs to be lauded. Quick cuts and interesting pans also add to the positives in this film. Ravi Kissen doles out quite a performance. The movie also sees the return of Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak.
Negatives: The director fails to do justice to any of the multiples aspects he had decided to dabble with in this film. So neither do we get a good dose of dark humor which tilts more towards gross and macabre, nor do we get to see most of these fine actors get thoroughly utilized.
Music: While the title of the film has been borrowed from one of the most popular songs of last year, the music of Emotional Atyachar is hardly impressive.
