The first part of Cats and Dogs appeared on the big screen nine years ago. At that time, it was exciting, interesting and engaging. Somewhere the novelty value had managed to keep the movie afloat besides of course the characters, their jabber and acts appeared endearing.

Now that the makers took almost a decade to come back with a sequel, we assumed that a lot of thought and creativity must have gone into making this sequel. However, it is actually the reverse that has happened this time round. They forgot that we are an audience that has seen some marvellous films in the interim, where there has been a healthy interplay of real and machine made characters.

The plot of the movie once again sees the coming together of cats and dogs who have forever been at loggerheads, with  megalomaniac cat called Kitty Galore at the helm. Any reference to the Bond girl here, ummm I am not sure, but may be there is a bit of a forced satire there. Also because some scenes do look similar in their anatomy to the Bond films.

The problems with the film are manifold. To begin with, the CGI effects of the film are a whimper. After seeing some aesthetically and visually brilliant films like Avatar, we know what that razmattazz can cause to a film. If I voluntarily undertake to go through the headache those 3 D glasses are going to give me, then the spin better be worth my while and worth the Crocin I am going to pop thereafter.

Secondly, there is too much conversation and very little action that we are left to bear with for most part of this film. Even though the beginning appears promising, the film starts dithering almost soon after.

Now for the audiencce. The children might, and there is a bleak chance there, end up watching the film to the end. I am not commenting on the enjoying part. But as far as the grown ups are concerned, do not humour yourself by thinking that this might be another Finding Nemo or Wall E.
