An "inquiry" into financial details and share holding patterns of all the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisees by a special team of Income Tax Department continued for nearly seven-and-a-half hours at the IPL office here.
The team of six I-T officials, who entered the IPL office that is housed in BCCI building at the Wankhede stadium at around 6:00 pm, left it at 0130 hours early today.
Ratnakar Shetty, Chief Administrative Officer of the BCCI which owns the IPL, was also present at the building during the entire exercise, sources said.
Shetty and I-T officials, however, refused to entertain the reporters' query.
Immediately after the I-T officials visited the offices of BCCI-IPL, Modi rushed to the headquarters to meet them. Thereafter Modi and I-T officials moved to Nirlon House in Worli area where IPL Commissioner's offices are located.
Modi had said the I-T team's visit was only an inquiry and not a raid and assured that the IPL will "fully cooperate" in the inquiry.
Sources said the I-T department has created a special cell here to keep a tab on all income generated by the IPL and added the probe has been initiated to find out if there is any illegal flow of funds or whether any black money is being pumped into the sporting extravaganza including from foreign shores.
