Barring a few portions in between, especially the part where Ron, Hermione and Potter are hiding in a jungle, the movie is pacey and engaging.

The latest Harry Potter releases to both excitement and despair. While the hoots and shouts even before the movie begins are enough to tell how exhilarated fans are to reunite with their wizard hero, the fact that deep down they are sad that the franchise will end with just one more movie isn’t hard to gauge.

But the tears and fears vanish as the movie opens and Mad eye and his entourage come to rescue Potter boy.

What you can expect from this movie? Well, some great camerawork as always, a complete dissociation from Hogwarts where we have spent as much time as our wizard friends, lots and lots of dates with the dark lord Voldemort and the only film probably that has an abrupt ending that doesn’t bother us for we seek to rejoice in what follows with an almost frenzied anticipation.

The movie opens to a world of excitement as Harry is rescued and taken to a safer haven. The combat with the death eaters begins our craving for adrenaline. And the doses keep coming intermittently in good measure. The ploys to trap Harry, Hermione’s bag, the charms and the spells are all very fascinating.

Barring a few portions in between, especially the part where Ron, Hermione and Potter are hiding in a jungle, the movie is pacey and engaging.

A word of caution here for those of you who haven’t read the book is that the tale is a little twisted and unless you know the larger plot, there may be parts that seem unfathomable. A word of encouragement for those who have, well the scenes, the scenery, everything will seem like a mirror image of all that your imagination brewed for you as you were reading the book.

The movie does evade answering some questions. Such as the fate of Ron’s family, Jeanie etc remains hidden from us till the end after we had last see them under siege from the death eaters. The movie centers around the three friends, most of the other characters such as Drako, Snape etc appear only momentarily and vanish soon after.

We do get to meet Dobie, the elf again and the fascination around and about him with viewers never fails to show up.

As for the performances, Radcliffe is beginning to look a little repetitive. Watson and Grint on the other hand continue to evolve and dole out great performances. All said and done, the fact that the second part of Deathly Hallows that also happens to the last part of the Harry Potter franchise remains eagerly awaited.
