It is a milestone birthday for one of the finest actors of the Indian film industry today. Naseeruddin Shah turns 60. Born in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, India, he is a descendant of the 19th-century Afghan warlord Jan Fishan Khan. He is married to actress Ratna Pathak Shah. The couple has a daughter, Heebaa, and two sons, Imaad and Vivaan.
Nasseruddin Shah shot to fame with the 1986 multistarrer Karma. Some of his most noted and praiseworthy performances came from Mandi, Sparsh, Masoom, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Hero Heera Lal and Sarfarosh. He also worked in Maqbool, an adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth in 2004. He also won a lot of acclaim for the 2008 film A Wednesday.
Nasser has also starred in international projects such as The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in 2003 (co-starring Sean Connery) where he played the role of Captain Nemo and the The Great New Wonderful.
Besides films Shah has also dabbled with a lot of theatre. In 1977, he along with Tom Alter and Benjamin Gilani formed a theatre group called Motley Productions. Their first ever performance was Waiting for Godot, a play on existentialism by Samuel Beckett.
Naseeruddin Shah was most recently seen in Ishqiya. And even though age seems to be catching up with him, our man is still singing Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji.
