After the shooting yesterday at the Ashram, Bachchan wrote on his blog, he was mesmerised by the sanctity and purity of Sabarmati Ashram.

Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan today continued shooting at the Sabarmati Ashram, for the second day today for films promoting Gujarat tourism and even tried his hands at 'charkha'. After the shooting yesterday at the Ashram, Bachchan wrote on his blog, he was mesmerised by the sanctity and purity of Sabarmati Ashram.

"Some shots are to be done of me walking around the region, contemplative and with the wonder of the great man's presence within," Bachchan wrote on the blog. "I remove my shoes by the road and walk about bare feet, even though all others do not. It is not required that they do, but I could not somehow make myself to not go bare footed. The sanctity and the purity of the premises just prompted me to do it," he said.

Bachchan further wrote that as he walked around the Ashram reading various descriptions of important spots, he came across a man from the Ashram spinning charkha. "I tried my hand at it. Its simple yet intricate procedure in weaving the thread and the extreme joy of having been so close to that most identifiable element of the Mahatma, overpowering all other thoughts," he wrote.

Describing his experience at the historic Ashram from where Mahatma Gandhi led the freedom movement, Bachchan said, "What an experience, what a moment. History and resolve, all encased within the area known now as the Sabarmati Ashram." Yesterday, three short advertisements promoting Gujarat tourism and featuring Bachchan were released by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.

The advertisements are part of series known as 'Khushboo Gujarat ki' (Fragrance of Gujarat), dealt with white desert of Kutch, Gir wildlife sanctuary and Somnath temple. Bachchan had agreed to be brand ambassador of Gujarat tourism and shot for promotional advertisements in Gujarat between May 28 to June 5 at various locations like Bhuj, desert in Kutch, in Gir forests with the lions and in Somnath temple.
