Some passengers who got down from the AI aircraft claim to have paid as much as Rs 55'000 for their ticket.

Indians stuck in Egypt have had to pay a huge price to get back to India.

Shocking revelations claim that most evacuees have been charged exorbitant fare for one way travel between Cairo and Mumbai.

The fare charges is as high as Rs 45'000. Some passengers who got down from the AI aircraft claim to have paid as much as Rs 55'000 for their ticket.

Normal one way fare between Cairo and Mumbai is anywhere between Rs 17,000 - 20,000.

But Air India has come up with rather lame excuses for this fleecing. It says the fare was charged keeping in mind the fact that Mumbai to Cairo flight went empty and the high fare is a result of that.

The national carrier also says that the fact that it has no base in Cairo also compounded its problem which affected the fares.
